Final Round of the Improved Production South Australian State Championship takes place this weekend at The Bend Motorsport Park.
Mark Kempster has shown consistency this season accumulating points in his Mitsubishi Magna head into the round with the lead thanks to the revised point score for 2023 which rewards consistency.. The calculators will be running as hot as the on track action with sunny weather forecast all weekend. There are 5 contenders that could mathematically take the title.
While Andrew Sarandis has the most race wins in his Mitsubishi Evolution 8, missing a round due to engine issues sees him in 5th only just within mathematical contention to win, relying on his peers having a shocking weekend.
The national champion Adam Poole returns to The Bend in the mighty Monaro is sure to upset the points accumulators as a favourite to win some races despite not featuring in the state title while focusing on the Vic and National trophies.
Matthew Kelly sits in 4th will continue to be consistent, but with rain unlikely the naturally aspirated Super Tourer inspired BMW E36 will struggle to better that result.
Jason Palmer has shown strong form throughout the season, but will be battling a number of german marques from interstate as part of the Roundal cup awarded to the highest place BMW for this weekend. Rob Braune in another E30 will be the beemer to beat with a number of wins at the last outing on the International Circuit at The Bend.
Anthony Norris piloting his Datsun 1200 will be double checking his fuel calculations and trying not to spin to maintain his spot on the podium.
Another feature of the round is the Redback Interstate Challenge, a single round prize to celebrate the addition of so many interstate competitors.
Racing will be underway by lunch time Saturday with plenty of action on track all day as part of the Sporting Car Club of SA State Championship at The Bend Motorsport Park 16-17th September and Spectator entry is FREE.
