The Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Series (ARC) is proud to announce that the Category will transition back to the Yokohama ADVAN A048R Tyre from December 2022 when the Category joins the VALO Adelaide 500 Supercars Event on the streets of Adelaide.
The Yokohama ADVAN A048R Tyre is a tried and tested product when it comes to Aussie Racing Cars, with the original ARC chassis and cars being designed and built around the Yokohama product in the late 90s/early 2000’s before Yokohama became ARC’s exclusive competition tyre for a reign spanning 18 years from 2000 to 2017. A short 4 year period between 2018 and 2022 saw Kumho Tyre become the exclusive tyre for all ARC competition, however with the Kumho arrangements coming to an end last month, ARC will once again be back on Yokohama Tyres. Yokohama will also support the category with a full at track tyre supply and fitment service at every Championship event and all ARCs will carry Yokohama branding in recognition of ARCs significant partnership with Yokohama.
Aussie Racing Cars’ Brad Ward had this to say:
“I know from experience just how good the Yokohama ADVAN A048R performs on our Aussie Race Car chassis. Dad originally designed and made the cars to run on Yokohama’s resulting in a tyre and chassis that compliments the other. In addition, I am hugely passionate about the brand having been appointed by Yokohama as their Sponsored ARC race driver alongside my brother James in the mid 2000s.
“Together, James and I campaigned our Yokohama Commodore Aussie Race Cars for well over 10 years flying the Yokohama flag at all the nations biggest and best events including twice at the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix. The quality of the product, the professionalism of the organisation coupled with the significant history that the category has with this great product means we know that Yokohama is the right competition tyre for Aussie Racing Cars.
“I want to extend a special thank-you to Alan Bradshaw (CEO of Yokohama Tyre Australia) for supporting the category over the last few months and for putting this important supply arrangement in place for the category”
“ARCs return to Yokohama is going o be huge and I can’t wait to see a field of 37 Aussie Racing Cars – the biggest field in recent years to roll out on Yokohama Tyres at the Adelaide 500 in December!”
Alan Bradshaw (CEO of Yokohama Tyre Australia) has this to say:
“We are delighted to again be the official competition tyre supplier to ARC. It’s a great category with great racing and being an official support category to Supercars with huge grids and full TV coverage at each event, Yokohama is able to leverage the relationship and return a marketing benefit to the business. We know we have a superior product, and I can’t wait to see the 4 wide racing action and intense braking duals that ARC is synonymous for!”
The 2022 ARC Championship concluded at the Sandown Supersprint in August with the Championship Winner, Josh Anderson being crowned. As such the 2022 Adelaide 500 will not form part of the Series, instead a combination of two of Australasia’s premier motorsport events being the Adelaide 500 and a hallmark event at Highlands NZ to signify and celebrate the circuits 10th Anniversary will form a special Highlands Trans-Tasman Cup which shall be awarded to the driver who amasses the highest points from both these special events. The Cup will also see the category travel internationally for only the third time in its history.
