LMP3 regular and European Le Mans Race winner Scott Andrews, hailing from Torquay, Australia, will make his first IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship start at Sebring, FL, this weekend joining the #85 JDC-Miller Cadillac DPI.
The famous 12 hour race is normally held in March, but due to the complicated COVID-19 season it will go ahead on November 14.
Scott joins season regulars and experienced teammates Stephen Simpson and Mathues Leist.
“[Andrews] is a young, fast driver and I’m happy that he will be getting a big chance,” said Simpson. “Sebring is a challenging race, it is very physical especially because of the bumps.
“This is a massive opportunity for me and I can’t thank JDC-Miller Motorsports enough. John Church has been a big part of my career in America and it has gone full circle. In 2013 when I first moved to USA, he gave me my first shot in USF2000. I’ve won races with JDC in LMP3 in IMSA, and now 7 years later I am getting the chance in one of the biggest Sportscar championships in the world. It still feels a little surreal, but grateful for the opportunity.”
“I will be turning my first laps in a DPI in FP1, so the learning curve will be very steep but I have great teammates and I know I have a great team around me to help flatten that out a little.”
Andrews is familiar with the Sebring circuit, scoring the LMP3 victory there earlier this year in the IMSA LMP3 series with JDC-Motorsports and teammate Gerry Kraut, a JDC regular.
