JORDAN BOYS ON THE TOUGH SIDE OF RACING

Velocity Motorsport Magazine took a quick look into the tougher side of Motorsport, trying to fund the “addiction” so to speak, we had a chat with Jordan Boys on Friday before he headed out for first practice here at Townsville in the Super 2 Series.

So Jordan tell us how you started racing?

“I raced go karts for 10 years and then transitioned to Formula Ford for a year or so and then into Super 3.”

Was chasing sponsorship at that level easy?

“I wouldn’t say they were any easier but the numbers you were chasing were much more achievable.”

So why do you do it?

“The big thing I enjoy is the challenge, it’s so hard to just get a top 10, obviously we’re all chasing podiums and wins but it’s a steep learning curve to get there.”

Tell us whats the hardest part of Racing?

“Sponsorship is honestly the hardest part of the category, and anyone that relies on that money to go racing will tell you the same thing. It definitely feels like it gets harder and harder every year.”

How & Where do you find your supporters then?

“Most of my Sponsors come locally from my home town of Albury, so most of them come from sit down meetings. Other than that I’ve got a resume that I send out and go from there. Getting a foot in the door is the hardest part so having someone that deals with larger type businesses really helps.”

It must be harder in the Supercars second Tier Series – Super2

“The Super 2 cars are just too expensive to run. In saying that I know they’re trying to make that better now but there will be no overnight fixes for it.”

Who would you like to thank today Jordan?

I would like to thank everyone who has supported my program this year with sponsorship or through my membership. My main Sponsors I’d like to thank are: Joss Group, Dawson’s Haulage, Rice Graphic Images, Lubrimaxx, Shakanda, Galvaniize Insurance, Auto Openers and Modem Construction.

Jordan is back on track today for Qualifying and Race 1, he had a tough practice 2 yesterday only managing 1 lap, “we had a blocked fuel system unfortunately, will be all good for tomorrow though,” Jordan told Velocity Magazine.
