JONO LESTER SUZUKA 10 HOUR HIGHLIGHTS
PRESS RELEASE/Jono Lester – Photo: supplied
The Suzuka 10 Hours was a very impressive event to be a part of, but arguably one of the biggest struggles of my career.
Throughout the race week, we never looked like being competitive and were combating many challenges on and off the track which took the shine off what should have been a memorable experience not only for me, but for the large D’station Racing outfit which fielded two beautifully presented Porsche’s in their striking shade of green.
Qualifying down the field, we found ourselves 15 laps down on the field after two hours with a lengthy stop in the pit garage to rectify a cooling issue with the #77 car.
That made it a very long rest of the day in stifling 37 degree heat, but the latter stages of the race, with the main grandstand filled with multicoloured glowsticks, was very special indeed.
Japan certainly know how to do motorsport well. The fan engagement is second to none.
Trundling around at the rear of the field, we felt more like an obstacle than a competitor – definitely a rough day in the end!
Thank you to Hoshino-san, Fujii-san and D’station Racing for the opportunity to join their team. I’m sure under different circumstances, we can have a better run of things in the future.
