CAMS has now provided more than $100,000 to car clubs around Australia through the successful CAMS Club Development Fund initiative.

Supported by Burson Auto Parts and Famous Insurance, the Club Development Fund was created to increase participation in motor sport, with CAMS affiliated sporting car clubs receiving the opportunity to obtain funding for proposed projects.

Since the initiative’s inception in 2015, 59 different clubs across the country have received funding with the money contributing towards 182 events.

CAMS CEO Eugene Arocca said he was thrilled.  “We are proud of what these clubs have been able to achieve with the CAMS Club Development Fund,” Arocca said.  “To have been able to allocate more than $100,000 to date is a terrific result for grassroots motor sport and we aren’t done yet.  “We encourage all clubs to apply for funding to help our great sport reach even more people across Australia.”

Junior development remains a key priority for CAMS, with 90 junior events receiving funding since 2015, as clubs looks to educate the next generation of motor sport enthusiasts.

Come and Try Days also remain a high driving force of the program, with 34 per cent of funding awarded to clubs promoting the different categories available in motor sport.

The general increase in female participation throughout motor sport saw a new category made available in 2018, as eight events received funding to help boost women’s participation.

As a recipient of funding through the CAMS Club Development Fund, Albury Wodonga District Car Club was able to hold a successful women’s drive day in 2017, an event which saw women from around the district put their driving skills to the test on a track.

Clubs are encouraged to apply for funding for any projects that could help build membership growth.
